International Family Law

International family law covers a broad spectrum of family law across jurisdictions, including divorce, financial matters, relocation of children and child abduction.

The world is indeed becoming a smaller place and it is now common place for people to come together from different countries and settle in yet another country, which can, when those relationships end, lead to additional legal issues that require specialist assistance.  We work with lawyers in other jurisdictions to ensure that we can provide you with the best advice possible for your specific circumstances.

We focus on the elements that affect children, such as familial child abduction and leave to remove applications.

The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, more commonly referred to as the ‘Hague Convention’ is a treaty that provides all member countries an easier route to securing the return of a child abducted by a parent from one member country to another.  The idea behind the convention is to maintain the status quo of the child arrangements that are already in place in the country of habitual residence.

The convention currently has 82 members, a list of which can be found here.
