A specific issues order is used to determine a specific question which has arisen in connection with any aspect of parental responsibility for a child. They order a parent, or the person with parental responsibility for a child, to do something, rather than to prohibit them from doing something (like a prohibited steps order).
If those with parental responsibility cannot agree on a matter with regards to their child, for example, which school the child should attend, what religion the child should have, whether the child should be circumcised and so forth, either party can make an application to the court for the court to make a decision.
The courts will take all factors into consideration and will make an order keeping in mind that the child is paramount and that their best interests are served by any order that is made.
