We all have the right to choose if, when and who we marry under the law of England & Wales. Therefore, forcing someone to marry against their wishes is a criminal offence and there are civil protections available to those at risk.

An FMPO is an injunction which can be issued the Family Court under the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007. Each order is uniquely tailored to protect the person at risk and can be granted on an urgent application to court.
